Claudio Aguillon was born in El Leoncito, a small village tucked in the high arid lands of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He spent many of his childhood hours drawing. In 1985 at the age of 13, he emigrated to the United States. His art not only helped him cope with the change but it also open doors to friendships and opportunities. Throughout high school he continued working to improve his talent.
At Palo Alto Community College in San Antonio, Texas, Claudio was inspired and encouraged by the great staff and made a commitment to a career as an artist. In 1999 he received his Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from the University of Texas at Austin.
From 2001-2007 Claudio was an art
instructor for SAY Si, an award winning youth arts
program. He enjoyed working with many the great young student artists. Claudio now is self employed and works from his home studio in San Antonio.
He has had exhibitions in several galleries in San Antonio, the Mexicarte Museum in Austin, and at the Museum Gallery of the New Mexico State Univeristy at Las Cruces. Claudio has painted murals with the help of his students from SAY Si for his alma mater, Southwest High School and the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center. He has also worked with several other non-profit organizations, which serve children.
His work is part of the Romo collection of Mexican American Art Prints in the Benson Collection at UT Austin, as well as other private colletions. His paintings and murals can be found through San Antonio in schools, health institutions and restaurants including Taco Haven, Picante Grille, Oblate Cafe, and Taqueria Mexico.
